Two shows that were seriously overhauled for the western audience and will appeal massively to younger viewers, Beyblade and Bakugan feature young kids thoroughly engrossed in proxy battles. Nothing serious, they are rather light hearted. Fans of one will love the other!

zelos says..

The structure is the same, an amazing boy that could do all he want, he is a bit stupid, idealistic. The weapon for save them are toys. The main character has the definitely weapon, the best toy. They seems to be cool, the other characters has only one use shout at the main character for win then they had a battle where they suffer a lot. I think is the same with other name and other characters

PURPLEHANDGANG says..

If you want the series to start all card game based series, this is the one. Since Bakugan focus on saving a different world, Yu-Gi-Oh! focused on saving Earth by the ways of card games and Egyptian monsters.

KiraRin says..

Young kids using monsters controlled by cards battling each other your kind of thing? Then Yu-gi-oh and Bakugan are so very similar by the fact they are both pretty dreadful. Both having suffered from the export across the ocean, they will definitely appeal to the younger audience. I think fans of one will probably enjoy the other.

Turning Mecard

  • TV (52 eps)
  • 2015 - 2016

Jason is a grade-schooler who meets a Mecanimal -- a transforming minicar from the alternate world of Triforce -- named Evan. Jason and Evan are both searching for missing family members, and team up to help each other. Together, they meet more Mecanimals as they battle across dimensions and learn important lessons along the way.

Reasons you might like Turning Mecard..

Inu230 says..

Both Turning Mecard and Bakugan Battle Brawlers use cards to set up fields of battle and cards that determine the powers and abilities alien creatures can use in battle. Once on the field the creatures change, growing in both size and form. With the help of a human (sometimes more than one) the creatures fight to get stronger with the ultimate goal of protecting the universe.

Though the creatures differ both animes feature beings from another world who find themselves on Earth and being looked after by humans - specifically young children. While on Earth neither aliens (Bakugans or Mecardimals) are able to use their powers without the assistance of humans.

A loss in battle can cost the protagonist(s) their alien friend as it is claimed by the victor/antagonist who chooses either to eliminate the creature or to take it for their own. So each and every battle entered into has a high risk factor even when winning seems like a sure thing.

While Bakugan and Mecardimals can move around on their own [in their mini/Earth forms)] it is difficult and they can't go very far before being caught - picked up. These scenes tend to be comedic and split up serious scenes and are also used to introduce a new alien.

Additionally both animes focus on a young boy and his number one companion Dan & Drago (Bakugan Battle Brawlers) and Jason & Evan (Turning Mecard) who are surrounded with close friends. In order to bring peace to their worlds - the universe - and set things right they have to band together, gain new friends, battle enemies, face their own insecurities and attend school. A dream and a nightmare mixed into one. Some days are light and full of fun, winning streaks that boost up ego and then losses that crush both humans and their alien pals.

In the beginning adults are basically oblivious but come to know and accept that there are aliens on Earth and that a group of kids have taken responsibility for protecting the universe.

Vestroia has recently come under attack by creatures known as the Doom Beings. This realm is balanced by the Perfect Core, which itself is formed by the Infinity and Silent Cores. When the evil Bakugan Naga attempted to take this great power for himself, he was unable to absorb the negative energy he wished to steal and found himself trapped in the Silent Core. Now, his presence within the core has destabilized Vestroia and attempts to merge with Earth as well as many other worlds. Danma and his friends must team up with individuals from other worlds who have also been drawn into this epic battle. As Naga is seeking the Infinity Core so that he may complete the Perfect Core in order to gain control of Vestroia, Earth, and all other worlds, time is of the essence in this devastating war of worlds.
